The opening of the data of the Digital Barometer, the main reference study on the digital equipment and uses of the French (and the result of a collaboration between the CGE and Arcep that goes back to 2003) will allow researchers, consultants, sociologists, developers, but also journalists or companies to produce new analyses with a fresh look. "The opening of the results required meticulous work to harmonize the annual databases, to make them consistent. For example, the wording of the variables had to be reconciled in order to facilitate inter-temporal analyses. These data sets are now available on the national platform data.gouv.fr
Several public actors had undertaken as early as 2015 to place data from surveys in open data.
Digital public services dashboard (SGMAP)
The General Secretariat for the Modernization of Public Action (SGMAP) has developed a dashboard to monitor the evolution of the use of digital public services. This dashboard contains, for 25 common procedures, the percentage 2012, 2013 and 2014 of procedures carried out in a dematerialized way. It was produced by the SGMAP in coordination with the administrations.The results of the year 2015 are available on data.gouv.fr.
Barometer of cultural goods use on the Internet (Hadopi)
Hadopi (High Authority for the dissemination of works and the protection of rights on the Internet) has published 18 data sets on data.gouv.fr. Among these data sets are the 2012, 2013 and 2014 editions of the Barometer of cultural goods use on the Internet. This barometer provides an overview of the legal and illegal consumption of cultural goods by French Internet users:
- internet uses
- securing the connection
- consumption of cultural goods (music, videos, software, books, TV series, photos, video games)
- Monthly expenditure on dematerialized cultural goods
- Types of sites frequented for the consumption of cultural products online
INSEE household surveys on ICT
INSEE conducts an annual survey of 4,000 households to measure the equipment of households, their use and frequency of use, the use of administration and e-commerce services. This survey, coordinated by Eurostat, is part of Regulation No. 808/2004 of 21 April 2004 by the concerning the implementation of the eEurope 2005 action plan devoted to ICT.
In 2016, the telephone survey sample is composed of 3,500 households in metropolitan France and about 100 households in each of the four DOMs.
INSEE has made available on its website 33 datasets for the years 2007-2014, in a reusable format.
Government web audience data (SIG)
